Finally it's done

 


All is done, mechanically wise. Waiting to get the trumpet to give the growling sound. 

After 1.5 yrs of waiting, it's finally up n running.



Nicely done ke70 JDM with ae86 gears and ae111 engine. Retro customization.


Engine is fire up

 

Engine is up finally but the water pump is leaking. Gotta change a new set.

Almost everything is change to new parts.

Kinda like a new car for this 40yr old.


Ultra plug wires for the 20v

 Due to the original plug wires are not long enough. The mechanic manage to get a much longer plug wires from ultra plug wires.


Nicely fitted.

External pump

 

The Mercedes Bosch external fuel pump are faulty.

Due to the long storage it doesn't prime. Need to get another set of pump to get it started.

Plug wires for the inverted distributor 20v

 

The original 20v plug wires are a little short.

Need to modify a longer plug wire for the plug no.1 to fit into the distributor.

Engine in the bay


After market 4-2-1 header approved by Jasma Japan with new O2 exhaust sensor. Need to mod the bracket of the AE86 header to fit the 20v engine.

All ready to be install.

At last the 20v engine is in the engine bay.

Properly n nicely done.

Installed fuel tank.

Cleaned all the surface rust and debris before applying 3m undercoating.

Mission flywheel & clutch

 

New remade clutches for daily with Toda blacktop flywheel weighing in at 4.4kg.
Original ae86 fork pin to engage the clutch have a longer throw.
My previous owner modded a different n bigger pin compare to the original ae86 pin fork.
Limited movement for the fork engagement from the previous mod.
Limited range of movement.
Original bearing location.
Need to change the pin fork, fork, bearing, bearing housing and the 2 pins holding the bearing housing.
Welded pin fork from previous owner.
Difference between original ae86 fork n my previous fork.
Lotsa Freeplay at the bottom with previous owner.
Bearing n fork sits in the transmission shaft.

DX headlamp restored

 

Refurbished the headlamps
Galvanized all the brackets n bonnet stand to look new n shiny.
Looks all nice n new.

Crossmember and steering rack refurbished

 

All done with new boots
All refurbished with new seals and painted black
All dismantled to clean up
Taken out and dismantled.
Crossmember painted matt black.
Taken out and clean of the grease and grime.
Trd anti roll bar taken out n clean up.
Dropped the 4age crossmember.

Under carriage prep

 

Apply new sealant in the wheel well to prevent water ingress
Left side front wheel well
Right side front wheel well
All of the joints were applied with sealant.
3m under coating were applied all over to prevent rust.

Engine bay paint

sanding off any rust n apply sealant
First coat of high gloss silver
Inside of the firewall
Thoroughly painted and meticulously clean up
1st coat of primer.
